Radio Production

Source: Liverpool Hope Univeristy

For this radio coursework package there are three interviewees; Nura Mohamed, Olivia Mulhearn and Stephen Collins. Two of these interviewees; Olivia Mulhearn and Nura Mohamed are both second year students at Liverpool Hope University who both give their opinion on how this will effect students. The other interview by Stephen Collins, an optimistic university applicant who will also give their opinion on how this could possibly effect them. These three questions will therefore give the basis for my radio package.

Once all of the interviews had taken place the interviews then had to be edited using
Adobe Audition. The editing process involved listening to the audio and seeing if any of the audio needed to be cut of because of mistakes made by both the interviewer and the interviewee. Once an audio that needed cutting out was cut, the volumes were then changed because each of the interviewees all speak at a different tone to each other and the interviewer so to make the package flow better and have a consistent feel to it.

Raw clips

To create the package for this coursework, there are unedited clips that will be eventually all edited to create the final package. Here are the unedited clips:

News Bulletin

When creating a radio show one of the sectors in the show is the news, for the radio show assessment we were prompted to create a news bulletin one of which would be played in the radio show.
This news bulletin contains four news stories: two containing audio and two without audio. This news bulletin also contains a sport story and the weather.

Here is my news bulletin:

Interviews

Firstly, to make the package for the radio coursework I will interview three people for a minute each.In these interviews I will ask each person the same three questions:
  1. What is your opinion on the current government plans to cut the maintenance loans for university?
  2. How do you think it will effect students?
  3. Do you think there will be a fall in the number of students attending university because of this?
The first two questions are open questions so are broad allowing the interviewees to discuss rather openly their opinion on the matter. Whereas the last question is more of a closed question looking for a specific answer from the interviewees.

I chose the topic of the government plans to cut the maintenance loan this a current debate that would be of interest to students and would be something that is relevant to them and something they can relate too.
